Project, assignment, presentation, what else? How I wish I would have 48 hours a day to do all my stuff but of course, i wouldn’t just sleep just 8 hours a day. If there’s really 48 hours a day, maybe I’ll only sleep for 20 hours. It should be enough for me. 30 hours for you, Michelle!

Assignments have been piling up (unknowingly to me). Deadlines are approaching and I’m seriously going to be dead. My weekend, to rush my assignments, was ruined due to that sudden rain on last thursday. Fever and constant headache make me falling asleep on the sofa even in an uncomfortable manner. I can fall asleep, maybe within a second, while writing one word-aperture.

I think the only assignments that I’ve been catching up with, are the assignments for storytelling module. I’m a big, fat procrastinator. Hey wait, i just finished my photography assignment #1. *cheers* But podcast is totally untouched, storyboard exercise is untouched too and both of these are to be submitted in 2 days time.  Storyboard assignment is to be drawn and coloured on  A3 paper but I had just drawn on a normal piece of paper. I just found out today that IS com issues test (800-1000 words?!) is just next monday and no research has been done yet. After typing out these, I realise I have the tendency to first do assignments that are not that urgent, compared to the urgent ones. What’s happening to me? I can hear the clock ticking away now…

School break is just 9 more school days away but I’m not really looking forward to it now. Well, I did look forward to the school break few weeks ago, until someone told us that that school break is actually for us to do our group projects. *drop jaws* Indeed, storyboards of 20 frames and people photography had been given out to us and I expect more projects to come. However, I think I’ll still look forward to the school break because that means i don’t have to wake early in the morning and travel to Clementi every weekday and gives me the motivation to do all my assignments.

9 more school days!

See these clouds? You may find them very nice and colourful (i find them colourful too) but these clouds were on the sky above Sichuan before the earthquake strikes.

I’ve been reading the newspapers lately, about the earthquake in China, Sichuan. I have to admit that I don’t really read the newspapers, except for the interesting ones, and I don’t really follow news of disasters in the past (even though i’m supposed to, as i studied pure geog). But the other day, as I was watching the television, I saw the news of the Sichuan earthquake and started following the news on the earthquake.

It was measured 7.9 on the richter scale and it happened in the afternoon, 2.28pm, when the children were in school. More than 25 thousands of lives (still increasing) were lost, more than 200 thousands of people were injured and schools, homes (about 240 thousands of people are homeless), roads and bridges were destroyed. Parents had lost their only child (one child policy in China, remember?). Some parts of Sichuan lost their connections to the outside world and the rescue team could not contact them and they had to walk into the affected areas to bring them commodities as roads were destroyed.

We, Singaporeans, always take things for granted, such as food and water. Imagine if an earthquake were to strike in Singapore, supplies of food and water would be cut off, HDB buildings might collapse (my friend say they wouldn’t topple but titanic did sink, didn’t she?), most of us would be dead. I might be hiding under a table or chair, hoping that none of the heavy walls is going to fall on me, hoping that i can just die immediately without any pain.

What we can do is to count our blessings to live in Singapore, where all our neighbouring countries are protecting us from the natural disaster that had been happening in the past few years.

What’s the impression of you seeing the title of this post? Miss. Perhaps you’ll be thinking what have i missed (NP shuttle bus?!) or who am i calling miss? Nope. Eager to know? Read on to find out then.

As i was taking the bus to the interchange few days ago, i saw many students on the bus, on their way to the Tampines Regional Library, when school had not end yet. Then i realise that they were having their mid-year examinations. And i also realise something, i miss studying, seriously.

I miss going to the library to study for O level. I miss waiting outside the library for the librarians to open the gate at 10am sharp, like some anxious student going in to do their last minute revision. When 10am finally arrives, my friends and i would rush into the library like some kiasu aunties, just to get a good and quiet spot for us to do our revisions. We would start taking out our books and writing materials, not to study immediately, but to “chop” seats for our friends who are coming later. We would place the books and writing materials as though people had sat there to study but they were not their seats. And then we would start studying.

I miss complaining that i’m hungry even before lunch time. We would leave our stuffs at the table and sneak out to have our lunch but we could not leave them there for more than 15 minutes. So we often receive a  green paper, which serves the purpose of warning us not to leave our stuffs there, but obviously we didn’t care about the papers and started to play pranks on our friends at other tables. We would place the papers on their tables and tell them that the librarians put the papers on their tables when they were out for lunch. And i miss bringing big bags of tidbits and smuggling bubble tea into the library which we are not supposed to.

When we were all bored for studying from morning till night and one of my friend would take her Nintendo DS out from her bag for us to play before we continue with our revision. We would start to doodle on each other’s hands and notes to relieve our boredom. We would write down the things that we are going to do immediately once O level is officially over. I miss visiting Popular bookstore to buy many many notebooks to write notes for different subjects and many colour pens to write notes.

Some of us might not enjoy studying or always do last minute revision during your secondary school time and you think i’m crazy to miss studying. But look back, you might start to miss studying for exams afterall.

As promised, Speech Day. Speech Day is some kind of prize giving day in my secondary school but people don’t really give speech so don’t ask me why it’s called Speech Day.

Speech Day was held on 18th April this year and yes, it’s on a Friday so i had to skip photography tutorial on that day. Because Speech Day starts at 2.30pm and tutorial ends at 3pm?! I don’t really want to travel to and fro for 3 hours and only spend one hour in tutorial so yea, i told Mr Siew about it and he asked me to give some official documents to FMS office so i gave this.

I reached school at 2.30pm sharp and i spent 1 hour plus waiting in the hall for i-don’t-know-what. The whole thing actually started at 4pm (WTH?!) so the one and only speech by the principal began (boring. and i kept yawning). Followed by the prize giving ceremony, got a dummy certificate, bowed, got off the stage and went back to my seat and continued yawning. We watched the performance from various CCAs and the whole thing ended by 5.30pm. After that, we exchanged the dummy certificate with one of the teacher-in-charge aftermath and got the real certificate and 10 pieces of Popular vouchers together in an envelope. $100Popular vouchers? What can I do with it when I do not need anything from Popular bookstore? But still, my bestie and I screamed when we saw the vouchers because we thought that the school will only give us certificates as there were many others who got the award.

Anyway, we were like going for prom night or something in our dresses. But they said we had to wear formal top/pants/skirts or dress. So both of us had no formal wears so we wore our dresses. My other friends kept calling us prom queens so I said, “Okay. Let’s go to some hotels for dinner tonight.”

Apparently, we did not go in the end because we did not want to end up washing dishes in the kitchen as we didn’t bring enough money for dinner at hotel. So we went to a cheaper restaurant for dinner and home sweet home!
