Last post for the last week of the first semester (:

It’s the last week of the semester and we only have to go to school for 2 days! Not that i don’t like school, but the travelling time makes me wanna puke. 2 more assignments to strike off the list before the holiday! For now, one more. I just striked off the podcast for Intro to Film off the list. One more to go, photography portfolio.

Maybe i should start thinking what should i do during the holiday. I would definitely go to work, because of money money. Secondary school’s class chalet is during next month ): But TBONE chalet should be right around the corner right, Yixin?!

I’m very happy now because every poly students, other than FSV people, are going to have exams soon. FSV people have 2 more weeks of holiday because of that. I’m going to laugh at my friends when i see them next time. Sound very sadistic? Yes, I know.

I DON’T KNOW WHAT TO WRITE NOW… Okay. I just scanned through everyone’s blog and had a good laugh. Maybe not laugh, just a teeny weeny smile. Phua’s still typing an essay-like post. I bet Michelle will miss TBONE loads during the holiday. HAHAHA.

Well, I do hope that we’ll not be separated into different classes. If we do, console ourselves by saying “we’ll still meet each other in lectures”. BYE!

If you think it’s christmas after reading my title, I’m so sorry. I just don’t know what to put there as title. I’m running out of things to post about.

My weekend was ruined again, thanks to IS test which ended few hours ago. An essay of 800-1000 words is just so difficult for me. Consider the fact that i hated writing essays during secondary days. Imagine me whining when the teacher announces that we had to do an essay. Okay. It’s better not to.

I guess last week was a hectic week for everyone but at least we finished the things that we were supposed to do. Podcasts, photography assignment and what’s not. One more week to go and here comes the hoilday! Eh no, 4 more days to be exact. *CHEERS* I can’t wait to stone at home for nothing or go shopping with my mum and sister, especially when it’s Great Singapore Sale now.

Oh. I just remembered that one of my bestie came over to my house last night because she didn’t bring her keys out and her family went out for dinner without her. So yea, she came and we caught up with each other. She envied me for not having common tests and I envied her for not having projects to do over the holidays. And she’s going to Taiwan for hoilday. I wanna go! She offered to bring me along (yea, bring) and I was so happy. And then, she said, “i’ll smuggle you there, in my lugguage.” Oh well. I shall start saving money before another person comes and tell me he/she’s going to Taiwan.

I better start studying Aristotle. But before that, can someone please enlighten me. Is this the last post or second last post?

Project, assignment, presentation, what else? How I wish I would have 48 hours a day to do all my stuff but of course, i wouldn’t just sleep just 8 hours a day. If there’s really 48 hours a day, maybe I’ll only sleep for 20 hours. It should be enough for me. 30 hours for you, Michelle!

Assignments have been piling up (unknowingly to me). Deadlines are approaching and I’m seriously going to be dead. My weekend, to rush my assignments, was ruined due to that sudden rain on last thursday. Fever and constant headache make me falling asleep on the sofa even in an uncomfortable manner. I can fall asleep, maybe within a second, while writing one word-aperture.

I think the only assignments that I’ve been catching up with, are the assignments for storytelling module. I’m a big, fat procrastinator. Hey wait, i just finished my photography assignment #1. *cheers* But podcast is totally untouched, storyboard exercise is untouched too and both of these are to be submitted in 2 days time.  Storyboard assignment is to be drawn and coloured on  A3 paper but I had just drawn on a normal piece of paper. I just found out today that IS com issues test (800-1000 words?!) is just next monday and no research has been done yet. After typing out these, I realise I have the tendency to first do assignments that are not that urgent, compared to the urgent ones. What’s happening to me? I can hear the clock ticking away now…

School break is just 9 more school days away but I’m not really looking forward to it now. Well, I did look forward to the school break few weeks ago, until someone told us that that school break is actually for us to do our group projects. *drop jaws* Indeed, storyboards of 20 frames and people photography had been given out to us and I expect more projects to come. However, I think I’ll still look forward to the school break because that means i don’t have to wake early in the morning and travel to Clementi every weekday and gives me the motivation to do all my assignments.

9 more school days!

See these clouds? You may find them very nice and colourful (i find them colourful too) but these clouds were on the sky above Sichuan before the earthquake strikes.

I’ve been reading the newspapers lately, about the earthquake in China, Sichuan. I have to admit that I don’t really read the newspapers, except for the interesting ones, and I don’t really follow news of disasters in the past (even though i’m supposed to, as i studied pure geog). But the other day, as I was watching the television, I saw the news of the Sichuan earthquake and started following the news on the earthquake.

It was measured 7.9 on the richter scale and it happened in the afternoon, 2.28pm, when the children were in school. More than 25 thousands of lives (still increasing) were lost, more than 200 thousands of people were injured and schools, homes (about 240 thousands of people are homeless), roads and bridges were destroyed. Parents had lost their only child (one child policy in China, remember?). Some parts of Sichuan lost their connections to the outside world and the rescue team could not contact them and they had to walk into the affected areas to bring them commodities as roads were destroyed.

We, Singaporeans, always take things for granted, such as food and water. Imagine if an earthquake were to strike in Singapore, supplies of food and water would be cut off, HDB buildings might collapse (my friend say they wouldn’t topple but titanic did sink, didn’t she?), most of us would be dead. I might be hiding under a table or chair, hoping that none of the heavy walls is going to fall on me, hoping that i can just die immediately without any pain.

What we can do is to count our blessings to live in Singapore, where all our neighbouring countries are protecting us from the natural disaster that had been happening in the past few years.

What’s the impression of you seeing the title of this post? Miss. Perhaps you’ll be thinking what have i missed (NP shuttle bus?!) or who am i calling miss? Nope. Eager to know? Read on to find out then.

As i was taking the bus to the interchange few days ago, i saw many students on the bus, on their way to the Tampines Regional Library, when school had not end yet. Then i realise that they were having their mid-year examinations. And i also realise something, i miss studying, seriously.

I miss going to the library to study for O level. I miss waiting outside the library for the librarians to open the gate at 10am sharp, like some anxious student going in to do their last minute revision. When 10am finally arrives, my friends and i would rush into the library like some kiasu aunties, just to get a good and quiet spot for us to do our revisions. We would start taking out our books and writing materials, not to study immediately, but to “chop” seats for our friends who are coming later. We would place the books and writing materials as though people had sat there to study but they were not their seats. And then we would start studying.

I miss complaining that i’m hungry even before lunch time. We would leave our stuffs at the table and sneak out to have our lunch but we could not leave them there for more than 15 minutes. So we often receive a  green paper, which serves the purpose of warning us not to leave our stuffs there, but obviously we didn’t care about the papers and started to play pranks on our friends at other tables. We would place the papers on their tables and tell them that the librarians put the papers on their tables when they were out for lunch. And i miss bringing big bags of tidbits and smuggling bubble tea into the library which we are not supposed to.

When we were all bored for studying from morning till night and one of my friend would take her Nintendo DS out from her bag for us to play before we continue with our revision. We would start to doodle on each other’s hands and notes to relieve our boredom. We would write down the things that we are going to do immediately once O level is officially over. I miss visiting Popular bookstore to buy many many notebooks to write notes for different subjects and many colour pens to write notes.

Some of us might not enjoy studying or always do last minute revision during your secondary school time and you think i’m crazy to miss studying. But look back, you might start to miss studying for exams afterall.

As promised, Speech Day. Speech Day is some kind of prize giving day in my secondary school but people don’t really give speech so don’t ask me why it’s called Speech Day.

Speech Day was held on 18th April this year and yes, it’s on a Friday so i had to skip photography tutorial on that day. Because Speech Day starts at 2.30pm and tutorial ends at 3pm?! I don’t really want to travel to and fro for 3 hours and only spend one hour in tutorial so yea, i told Mr Siew about it and he asked me to give some official documents to FMS office so i gave this.

I reached school at 2.30pm sharp and i spent 1 hour plus waiting in the hall for i-don’t-know-what. The whole thing actually started at 4pm (WTH?!) so the one and only speech by the principal began (boring. and i kept yawning). Followed by the prize giving ceremony, got a dummy certificate, bowed, got off the stage and went back to my seat and continued yawning. We watched the performance from various CCAs and the whole thing ended by 5.30pm. After that, we exchanged the dummy certificate with one of the teacher-in-charge aftermath and got the real certificate and 10 pieces of Popular vouchers together in an envelope. $100Popular vouchers? What can I do with it when I do not need anything from Popular bookstore? But still, my bestie and I screamed when we saw the vouchers because we thought that the school will only give us certificates as there were many others who got the award.

Anyway, we were like going for prom night or something in our dresses. But they said we had to wear formal top/pants/skirts or dress. So both of us had no formal wears so we wore our dresses. My other friends kept calling us prom queens so I said, “Okay. Let’s go to some hotels for dinner tonight.”

Apparently, we did not go in the end because we did not want to end up washing dishes in the kitchen as we didn’t bring enough money for dinner at hotel. So we went to a cheaper restaurant for dinner and home sweet home!

I waned to post about speech day (some prize giving day in my secondary school) but i guess i’ll keep it till next week (if not i’ll run out topics to post about). I promised to post pictures next week but this week, just bear with the boring and no-pictures post.

My mum has always love to ask me to run errands for her, and do things for me. Simple things like, turn off the fire on the stove, bring in the dry clothes outside the house and to cook simple dishes for dinner. But i always forget to do them. Soup spills all over the stove, dry clothes became wet because of the rain and got to cook horrible dishes for dinner because i got to cook very quickly. My mum always say i’m very blur and forgetful but i always retorts her by saying i’ve got other things to do or remember.

Today, just a few hours ago, i realised how right was my mum and realised blur and forgetful can i be. I woke up at 6 plus to prepare for school and to take the last shuttle bus to NP, which is at 8am, just to save some transportion money. I reached school around 9 and slacked at the library for an hour. Rushed to block 5 for tutorial and waited for other people to come. Wait and wait and wait. 10am! Nobody came. Quickly checked MeL and realised that class starts at 5pm today. Laugh people laugh. So i had to go home and here i am, whining on my wordpress. I got to go all the way down to Clementi for just a movie later.

Lesson learnt: never ever leave the house before checking MeL.

Time flies! (how cliche can this be?!) I’ve been travelling to Clementi almost every day, considering the fact that i seldom travel to the west area in Singapore.

I think i seldom talk to many people in the class so i shall use this chance, where people MAY come and read my posts, to introduce myself. So there goes the mundane introduction.

As you can see from the “About me” page, my surname is really LAW. Yes, Mavis, the same surname as the hot British actor Jude Law. But i’m pure chinese because i don’t think there’s any British relatives in the family line. Be it close relatives or distant relatives.

I came from a typical neighbourhood school, East Spring Secondary School, somewhere in Tampines. I consider Emaths subject to be my forte since i’ve been scoring better than average in PSLE (long time ago, huh?) and Olevel. I don’t study Amaths because i didn’t do well in my sec2 examination. And please don’t ask me maths questions now because i don’t think i can do them since i haven’t been practising them for months.

My school is in Tampines so i live in Tampines (like duh). Yes, you can call me crazy or something to study in Clementi now when i’ve got Temasek Poly to go to. Because i think i’m really crazy (after the first week of school). And please don’t suspect people lying to you that they’ll puke if they sit too long on the MRT train because it’s true (i didn’t puke but i feel like puking).

So this is the introduction of myself. Congratulations! If you’re able to finish reading the introduction. Till then, BYE!
